On Saturday, the Dunboyne Winter Throws Festival went ahead after debating about weather conditions. It was a tough day for our throwing group enduring wet, cold and very windy conditions. This didn't deter them from performing to their best with fantastic graded throws to spur them on into their season.
On Sunday, the wet conditions didn't deter Ritchie Bell away from the 51st RAS na Eireann. With not much recovery time from his run down in Cork last weekend, Bell battled his way to 17th and a 1st in his M45 catagory. The tough 6km slippy steep incline course didn't seem to slow him down with an incredible finishing time of 22:37!
Brian Smith was 3rd O50 in turgesius 10 mile, Collinstown Co Westmeath on Sunday again enduring strong gusts. He ran the 10miles in 1hr 8mins which is just over 6min/mile pace- incredible going in such windy and freezing rain conditions!
Well done to all Athletes and parents who battled the elements all weekend!
Also Well done to Sprint/Jump Coach David Rock and Throws Coach Paddy Hanily!
Special Thanks to Meath County Board, Dunboyne AC and Dunleer AC for hosting these incredible events!
